Windows 11 Redesigned

Windows 11's new design is one of the most noticeable features. Panos Panay opened the event by explaining how new design changes were meant to "bring a remarkable sense of calm."

Windows 11 is a new operating system that has rounded corners and transparent widgets. There's also a redesigned Taskbar where all your icons, including your Start button, are moved to the middle of your screen.

You can drag the Taskbar to the left corner of the screen if you don't like it. This process can be complicated, however, according to an early tip by a Microsoft engineer.

New Start menu

Apart from the pinned apps, your new Start menu will include a Recommended section that includes documents and files from all of your devices. If you are just browsing a file from your tablet, phone, or connected computer it will be displayed in your Start menu.

Windows 11 also places the search bar at the top of Windows' Start menu. You will also get results from other sources when you use Windows 11's search bar, such as your computer, the internet, and OneDrive.

New Windows 11 Features

Snap Layout

Windows 11's Snap Layout feature makes it easier to arrange windows on your screen. You can select from six layouts by hovering your mouse over the Maximize icon in any window.

Snap Layout allows you to divide your screen in the middle, snap windows to the corners or create three columns tall on your screen. If you have a smaller screen, however, you may only be able to select four Snap Layouts.

Snap Groups

Windows 11's Snap Groups feature allows you to save screen layouts as "projects" so that when you open a project in the Taskbar, all of your apps and windows will open with the layout you have saved.

Widgets

Microsoft has added AI-powered widgets for Windows 11 to give you a customized feed with relevant news articles, local traffic, live weather, entertainment, and other information. Other widgets can be added to your calendar, photos, task list, and other areas.

You can open the new Widgets panel directly from your Taskbar. You can then scroll down to view all of your notifications, or expand the transparent panel for a full-screen view. You can also hide the panel entirely by clicking once you are done with widgets. visit: www.office.com/myaccount

Microsoft Teams Integration

Microsoft revealed that Windows 11 will integrate directly with Teams during the event. This means that you can send a message, make calls, or start video chats right from your Taskbar in just a few clicks.

Microsoft Store Update

Microsoft has also simplified its app store. The new Microsoft Store will feature an Entertainment tab, which features the top TV shows and movies that you can buy from different streaming services.

Microsoft will also be adding Android apps to the App Store for Windows 11. You can pin an Android app to your Start menu, Taskbar or Start menu after you have downloaded it. Snap Layouts or Groups can be used to arrange Android apps on your screen.

Windows 11 Gaming Enhancements

Auto HDR

Windows 11 automatically activates HDR (high dynamic range) to make gaming more fun. This feature will improve the colors, shadows, and highlights of your games, over standard dynamic range (SDR).

Microsoft claims that Windows 11 will automatically enhance more than 1,000 games upon launch. You won't need to adjust any settings for this feature, but you will require an HDR-compatible device or monitor.

Faster Games

DirectStorage was also added to Windows 11 by Microsoft to reduce game load times. This feature allows games to load data directly from your hard drive and your graphics card, without the need for your central processing unit (CPU).

Xbox Game Pass

Xbox Game Pass integration will be available through the Xbox app for Windows 11. With a subscription, you can play hundreds more games immediately after they are released. Xbox Game Pass plans start from $9.99 per month

Microsoft has announced that updates in Windows 11 will be 40% smaller, so your computer won't experience slowdowns. You can use your computer to update while the updates are happening in the background.

Privacy

Microsoft claims that Windows 11 is the most secure operating system it has ever created. Microsoft announced that Windows 11 certified computers will be equipped with hardware-based protections to prevent hackers from gaining access to your computer.

To run Windows 11, you'll need a computer that has a Trusted Platform Modul (TPM) chip. This chip protects your sensitive data against hackers.

When is Windows 11 coming out?

Microsoft has not yet given an exact date for Windows 11's release, but it stated that the operating system would be available during the "holidays" of 2021. However, many clues have been left by the company that Windows 11 will be released in October 2021.
