How to Find and Replace in Excel Not Working Issue?

This application helps in formatting, editing, creating spreadsheets etc. But, when you work with Excel data, and you want to find some specific information then it becomes very difficult find that information and also it takes too much time to search that information. Hence, MS Excel has given its user the find and replace feature through which you can find your information easily and can do a quick modification in your worksheet. When Find and Replace feature Do Not Work?

This feature does not work when the worksheet of your Excel is password protected. This feature doesn’t work in protected worksheet. If your active Excel cells do not have a matching data. When you forgot to hit the Find All or Find Next option before clicking the Replace option, and also if you are looking for the values or text within the filtered list.

Resolve Find And Replace Not Working Issue:

  • Mistaking in the Cell Selection:

This feature does not work if you have done mistake in cell selection. If you have highlighted more than 2 cells and you are searching for some other cells. If only 1 cell is clicked then it will find the search through the cell of your worksheet. If more than 2 cells are selected then the ‘find’ option will find your item in only two selected cells.

  • Use Replace All:

You should only use this option when you want to replace all the matches in the Excel worksheet. For this, first in your Excel worksheet you have to press CTRL + H from your keyboard. Here you will see the dialog box of Find and Replace. After this, you have to type the text in the box of Find What box. Then in the box of Replace with, you have to type the text which you want to replace with the original one. Now you have to tap on the Replace All option.

  • Use Find And Replace:

In your Excel worksheet, you have to press CTRL + H in your keyboard. You will see the dialog box of Find and Replace. Now you have to type the text in the box of Find What box. In the box of Replace with, you have to type the text which you want to replace with the original one. After this, tap on Find Next option. If you want to replace the text, you have to click on the Replace option. If you want to skip the text then you have to click on the Find Next option.

  • Solve Filter Criteria Issue:

First open Excel workbook, then from the menu bar of your Excel worksheet you have click to the Data option and then select Filter option. After this, you have choose Show All option. Now you have to  run the find and replace utility option.

  • Remove Password from Protected Excel Worksheet:

If your find and replace feature is not working then you have to check that your worksheet is password protected. If it is protected then first you have to unprotected the worksheet.
