How to Remove Windows Intune From A Computer?

This note is for those who plan to stop using the Microsoft Windows Intune service on one of the computers. The recommended solution in this case is to remove the specific computer from the list of devices in the Windows Intune cloud-based admin panel. www.office.com/myaccount

But this is not always possible. For example, if the trial period of using the service has ended and a decision has been made not to renew the commercial subscription. Or during the regular Intune removal procedure, something went wrong and the process failed. It is also possible that Internet access from a computer has become impossible. Simply removing the Windows Intune agent and Windows Intune Endpoint Protection from the Windows Control Panel will not be enough in this case, since the installation changed the settings of a number of services within the system.

What Is Required To Manually Uninstall Windows Intune Gracefully?

  • You need to download a set of Windows Intune Uninstall Scripts scripts from the Microsoft website.
  • Run automatic unzipping to a separate folder on your computer. As a result, we get the License.rtf files (license text for using a set of scripts), Windows Intune and AIS client software uninstall Instructions.docx (instruction in English), OmUninstall.cab and WuaUninstall.cab - script archives in .cab format.

We Perform Uninstallation

  1. Unzip the OmUninstall.cab file to a separate folder.
  2. The script removes all components installed during the installation of Windows Intune:

  • Windows Intune Center
  • Microsoft Easy Assist
  • Microsoft Online Management Policy Agent

  • Windows Intune Endpoint Protection
  • Windows Intune Endpoint Protection Agent
  • Windows Intune Monitoring Agent
  • System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 Agent
  1. Run the AgentUninstall_Intune.cmd script from an administrator computer. To do this, right-click on the file name and select “Run as administrator” from the menu that appears. A command window will open and the script execution process will begin. It can go on for quite some time. Wait for the process to finish and the command window to close.
  2. Restart your computer, open Control Panel-Programs and Features and make sure that all of the above components are removed.

If you installed a beta version of the Windows Intune agent released prior to March 2011, you will need to follow additional steps, which are also described in the Windows Intune and AIS client software uninstall Instructions.docx file. www.office.com/setup
