Method to Resolve If Window +Shift+ S Hotkey Not Working in Window 10:

  • Change OneNote Hotkey:

You should press the Windows key + R hotkey at the same time in order to open Run dialog box. After this, you should input ‘regedit’ in Run box and then tap on OK button to open the Registry Editor. At this point, you should open this key in the Registry Editor: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\OneNote\Options\Other.

Now, you should select Other and then right-tap on an empty space just on the right of the Registry Editor window in order to open the context menu. At this point, you should select New and then click on DWORD (32-bit) Value to set up a new DWORD. After this, you should enter ‘ScreenClippingShortcutKey’ as the title for the new keyword. Here, you need to double-tap on the ScreenClippingShortcutKey in order to open the Edit DWORD window. Now, you should enter ‘5A’ in the Value data text box just to change the OneNote 2016 clipping tool’s hotkey to Win + Shift + Z. Then, you should tap on the OK button to close the window.   • Disable Global Hotkey:

You can easily disable the Windows + S global hotkey with the Registry Editor. For this, you should enter ‘regedit’ in Run dialog box in order to open the Registry Editor. Now, you should browse to this registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced.

Here, you need to right-click on Advanced option and then select New option and then click on String Value. At this point, you should enter DisabledHotkeys as the title just for the new string value. Then, you have to double-click on the DisabledHotkeys in order to open the Edit String window. Now, you need to enter ‘S’ in the Edit String window, and then click on OK button to close the window. At last, close the Registry Editor and then click on Restart option to restart Windows.

  • Capture Screenshots With OneNote System Tray Icon:

You need to right-click on the OneNote system tray icon in order to open its context menu. Remember, you should click on the notification area’s up arrow and right-click on that icon. After this, you should select the Take screen clipping option which is on the context menu. Now, you should select an area to capture in the snapshot and then choose the Location in OneNote window. Then, click on the OneNote system tray icon just to capture snapshots and then you should open the Select Location in OneNote window. If you are not able to locate OneNote’s system tray icon, then right-click on the Win 10 taskbar and just select the Taskbar settings option. Here, you should click on Select which icons appear on the taskbar in order to open a list of icons. You should toggle the Send to OneNote Tool icon on just to include it in the system tray.
