  • Create a Backup:

In case, the Windows Update client is broken, then you should use a bootable drive as the repair source. For this, you should run the command:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:C:\RepairSource\Windows /LimitAccess

Here in the above command, you should replace the C:\RepairSource\Windows placeholder with the location of your repair source.

If it find issues, then for repairing process you should press Y on your keyboard in order to apply the changes. At last, you should reboot the computer and then check the issue is solved or not.

  • Use This PC:

For this, you should press Windows key + I together to open Settings. After this, you should visit to Update & Security. Then from the left side, you should open the Recovery tab. Now, you should click on the Get started button just under Reset this PC section. Here, in the Choose an option window, you should select an liable option. At this point, you should select Keep my files if in case you want to keep your files or you can select Remove everything to erase and start from scratch. This process will take time to finish, so you should wait till the PC restarts. When it restarts, you should complete the setup and just restore files from your backup.
